C O M If you attended all FJI events throughout the year and met 10 people at each one, how many people would you meet? 170 I have been a Realtor for 23 years in Janesville. I enjoy being an Ambassador because it provides me with many opportunities to be active in the community. It is a great way to get out and meet all the other business owners and leaders. Also, I enjoy going to new businesses to welcome them when they have their ribbon cuttings. It’s great to be a part of such an amazing group as Forward Janesville.” Verna Saladino Realtor, The Briggs Realty Group “Love being an ambassador because of all the ‘fun’ people and networking opportunities. It feels great to give back to our great community!” Terri Moldenhauer • Bank Manager/Mortgage Planner, Blackhawk Bank, Janesville “I particularly enjoy the ribbon cuttings and BA5 events with Forward Janesville because it gives me a chance to get out and learn about local businesses that I otherwise wouldn’t visit or realize exist.” Scott Pateros Sales Associate, Coldwell Banker Commercial McGuire & Mears Associates “As an FJI Ambassador, I have the great privilege of being a ‘walking testimonial’ to all the good that Forward Janesville does within the Janesville community. It provides a venue for me to grow both personally and professionally, building business relationships within my hometown community and giving back to the community that has a special place in my heart.” Lisa Hurda Onboarding Specialist, Mercyhealth “I enjoy being an Ambassador because I get to learn more about my community and meet a lot of amazing people!” Kari Gates Supervisor-Facilities Services & Operations, W.W. Grainger, Inc. “I love being a part of a group that is very passionate about making the community we live in a better place for all.” Jessica Locher Associate Director, ECHO, Inc. “It is a great way to get more involved in Forward Janesville and to meet the wonderful business professionals in our community. It allows me the opportunity to advocate for Forward Janesville and all the positive things it does to enrich the community. I have owned my own business for 20 years and have been a member for as long as I can remember. I participated on the Small Business Council many years ago to learn from and network with other small businesses in the area. I have worked on various FJI marketing pieces over the years with past and current staff. It was a natural progression for me to apply for the role of Ambassador and take on the Action Team role to get even more involved with this great organization. The Goodwill Ambassadors are such a fun, positive group. Whenever I attend FJI events, I always enjoy getting to know them better. I admire those long-standing ambassadors for their commitment to the organization and their enthusiasm, which is definitely contagious.” Jen DeGarmo • Owner, FIDO “I am a business consultant working with AFLAC and other resources to foster employee satisfaction and retention while saving business owners’ capital and increasing their bottom line. I like being a Ambassador with FJI because I get to help member businesses connect with the community and one another. It also helps me stay informed about all the great things happening in Janesville. Being involved in the community gives me a variety of ways to serve Janesville and its population.” Heidi Morgan • Associate, Aflac “I enjoy being an Ambassador for the involvement in the community. I enjoy attending ribbon cuttings to meet the new members and their staff. I enjoy working with my assigned members, helping them get the most out of their membership. My favorite part is being in involved with the Ambassador Grant program, to be able to give to a nonprofit for their special wants and needs.” Denise Webb, EA • Hagen CPA, LLC ‘‘ “I have been an Ambassador for about 12 years. I don’t remember the date I started, for me I feel like I have always been one. I like being an Ambassador for two reasons. First, I like being in the know. We are always sharing information in our meetings about what’s new and what will be; it helps to know that the new building going up is going to be a tire store, a restaurant, or new retail space. As Ambassadors, we are usually the second one to know what’s news, right after City leaders and John Beckord of course! Second, I genuinely like to promote Janesville. I get ample opportunities to support Janesville through the many committees and groups that I belong to. People always recognize the Ambassadors as the information hub. My coworkers look to me for the latest and greatest about Janesville. I enjoy talking so the role of an Ambassador fits my profile pretty well. I also appreciate the Ambassador group. I have made many friends over the years and will certainly make more.” Val Eagan • Business Development, Land Title AMBASSADOR QUOTES
