Forward Janesville - TheReport - Second Quarter 2019

#advocate FJI Vice President of Government Relations and Education Dan Cunningham served as a panelist at the Wisconsin Farm Bureau’s day at the State Capitol. Cunningham joined other state transportation experts, including WisDOT Secretary Craig Thompson (pictured at left), on the panel to discuss Governor Evers’ 2019- 21 transportation funding proposal. #jointfinancecommittee Cunningham served as a host of the Wisconsin State Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee’s Janesville field hearing on the 2019-21 state budget proposal. He testified about several business community priorities, including the preservation of Tax Incremental Financing and the state manufacturing and agriculture tax credit. The Joint Finance Committee is tasked with writing the state budget. This hearing is the beginning of what promises to be a long process. #communitycampaign ARISE Now is 61% of the way to meet its Community Campaign goal … a campaign for the community, by the community! Laura It may sound crazy with so many booking summer vacations right now, but I’m looking forward to being home for more than a minute, spending time on the deck and the water with family and friends. And a few good books. And a truckload of mosquito spray. Nothing beats a beautiful, relaxing summer in Wisconsin. Come on over and stop by for a visit! Dan I’m really looking forward to Music at the Marv, which will take place every Tuesday night at the Marvin Roth Pavilion in Lower Courthouse Park. This is a big milestone for our downtown: weekly summer entertainment. Plus, the band lineup is really great! I hope to see a lot of you there this summer! John I want to relish a historic Brewers campaign throughout the summer such that they dominate the National League Central Division and set the table for a playoff run. Claudine I am looking forward to boating season! My kids, husband, and I spend a large part of our summer on Lake Koshkonong. We love everything there is to do on the water as well as all of the restaurants. I am definitely going to have to carve out some time to get engaged in the community and am hoping to enjoy Music at the Marv, volunteering at the bike races and the LPGA tournament, as well as taking part in the Dragon Boat Races. I am so excited about all the opportunities we have this spring and summer! JoLynn Warm weather brings everyone outside! I am looking forward to experiencing the excitement of activation in and around our community, specifically the downtown and Town Square area. Summer events include the Farmers Market, Music at the Marv’s, 608 Day, Gran Prix Bike Race, Symetra LPGA Golf Tour, and so much more! Hope to see many familiar faces while I am out and about in our community! Mary I look forward to quality time with friends and family on the deck! Nothing beats the sounds of summer when you can be outside. Jenny I’m looking forward to the buzz of activity in the downtown area with the addition of the ARISE Now Plan in full swing, the Farmer’s Market and Music at the Marv. For me summer activities and the sweet noises of children and families enjoying it are what makes summer, well, summer! I will likely be spending a few lunch hours basking in the sun (with SPF 100+) and listening to music on my headphones on the riverfront. A great way to recharge and unwind.
