This quarter, Forward Janesville is honored to highlight three member businesses who are all doing great things in our community to rehome adoptable animals. JoLynn Burden - Director of Events & Membership Development Member Focus Friends of Noah Friends of Noah-Wisconsin (FON) is a volunteer-based Wisconsin dog and cat rescue organization that has a full-circle approach to animal rescue. In addition to rescuing animals in critical need, FON also uses community education, low-cost clinics, medical assistance and their pet C.A.F.E., which provides for these families through multiple food pantries that assist in distributing pet food to those who need it most. By helping animals stay in their original homes, FON helps reduce the number of animals who become stray and abandoned in the first place. FON has a great need in the community for new cat and dog fosters. “Fostering is a great way to volunteer from the comfort of your home. By offering your time, home, and love to an animal in need, you prepare the animal for adoption into a permanent home. FON’s adoptions have a high, long-term success rate because our animals have previously been in foster homes,” said Friends of Noah Marketing Coordinator Jenny Neuville. Friendsofnoa h-wi.org 608.774.3402 Paddy’s Paws Rescue Paddy’s Paws believes in “Rescue Done Right!” Since late 2014, the 100 percent volunteer-run Paddy’s Paws has helped over 1,600 dogs find forever homes. Many of the dogs helped are from the Houston area. Why Houston? The WI-TX connection stems from a friendship that Paddy’s Paws’ founder, Erin Patterson, had with the founder of the Houston-based rescue, Lola’s Lucky Day. After taking a trip to Houston, Erin witnessed firsthand the huge homeless pet population in Houston, where many dogs were getting euthanized in shelters due to lack of space. Erin created Paddy’s Paws so that dogs who would normally have no chance could have their second chance at life. Thanks to a solid foster program and dedicated volunteers, Paddy’s Paws expanded its rescue connections and currently works with three licensed rescues: Hooves and Hounds, Houston K-911 Rescue and Lola’s Lucky Day. In addition to helping homeless dogs from Houston, it also assists with local owner surrenders in Wisconsin. Paddy’s Paws provides animal education to local youth and creates multiple community outreach opportunities. In addition to hosting fundraisers for dogs in need, Paddy’s Paws sends all adoption fees to the Houston rescues so they can help save more dogs. As of October 2017, over $350,000 has been sent back to Texas. Paddy’s Paws relies solely on the dedication of fabulous fosters and volunteers and the generous support of their followers. Paddy’s Paws uses its matchmaking skills and thorough approval process to ensure each dog goes to a home that is the best fit.“Paddy’s Paws is more than just a rescue, it’s a family. Always available to support adopters throughout the entire process, we take delight in following the special journey of every dog who comes through the organization,” said Patterson.
