I was looking for a way to be more involved in the business community after many years being involved and giving back to my boys’ schools and activities. Hagen CPA was a member of Forward Janesville, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to be able to meet with business owners and give back to the business community. PERSONAL SNAPSHOT: • BEST QUALITY Optimism. I always look for the best in any situation and in any person. I believe we are not given anything we cannot handle. One of my favorite sayings is: “it is, what it is.” • WORST HABIT Unable to say “no.” I enjoy helping others, which is good, but tend to find myself not having enough family time because I’m involved with many non- profits and community events. • WHAT I LOVE ABOUT MY WORK I love tax season. It’s really not about processing the tax returns, it’s about my relationship with the clients. I enjoy meeting with them and hearing how their year went and looking to see how I can help them grow either personally or in their business. • THE BOOK ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE My bedside books are romance, mystery and suspenseful books, but my coffee book is an educational, self-improvement or inspirational read for a half-hour every morning. • FAVORITE LOCAL HAUNT Our favorite is in Hatfield, Wisconsin—we love the supper club Stone Throw and the dive bar at Deer View. Great people and good times. • MY FOODIE OBSESSION Dairy Queen Oreo blizzard and my homemade cookie bars. • Number-one item on my bucket list Take a four-week vacation. First week would be a motorcycle trip around Lake Michigan through Canada to Niagara Falls and back down past Lake Erie to home. Second week, we would travel to Chile to visit our first exchange student Melanie. Third week we’d travel to Brazil to visit our second exchange student Marianna, and then the fourth week we’d go to Austria. • Best piece of advice I ever received My mother-in-law told me once that my boys won’t remember a clean house, they will remember the time you spend with them. • Worst piece of advice I ever received Is there a thing as a worst piece of advice? Everyone has an opinion and you just need to listen, see the need and then take action if needed. • Favorite place in the world…and why Anywhere as long as my husband Jeremy is with me. • What one word best summarizes you?
