When I first learned about the Forward Janesville Ambassadors, I thought that would be perfect for me. I like people, and I like events. It was after I joined that I realized how much more was gained by being an ambassador. You learn so much about the community, businesses and government—you feel like you have a true understanding of what is happening in our area to help Janesville grow and be prosperous. It’s been a real eye-opener and I’ve made so many new friends and business connections. What do you hope to accomplish in this role? (e.g., what is most important to you) Most important to me is being involved. I can answer questions from my neighbors and friends about Janesville. Why, how, what … take the Arise project for example. Some folks have no idea what it is, how it will help, who’s paying for it, etc. If I can help answer some of those questions and encourage them to get involved and appreciate all that’s going on then I’ve done my part. Best quality - I love people and have a “glass half full” attitude. I believe that all people are good and perhaps I trust a little too much. Worst habit - Finishing other people’s sentences. I like to get to the point and get things done, and I have a tendency to jump in without fully listening. What I love about my work - PEOPLE! I love the radio stations’ community involvement. I love music of all kinds. I like that my job allows me to help businesses grow and share their message. My can’t-miss show - I love Beachfront Bargain Hunt. It’s a retirement dream and so fun to watch! Favorite local haunt - We discovered Mars Resort in Lake Geneva last year. We love to go and just have a cocktail, grab a bite and hang out. My foodie obsession - I just ate a whole box of Good & Plenty. And really good seafood! Number-one item on my bucket list - Travel to South Africa. I have to start saving and stop saying “some day.” Best piece of advice I ever received - When in a relationship, always save a part of you for you. And from the great Holly J. Barten, “Treat people fairly.” Worst piece of advice I ever received - “You can make the curve without putting on the brakes!” Favorite place in the world - The beach or any view of water—the sun, the view, the sounds. You, in one word - Optimistic If I ruled the world, everyone would… Everyone would stop being rude and mean. Let’s just be kind. And I’d eliminate plastic water bottles!
